Cover: The April-June 2001 Highlighted
Topics series explores the physiological and genomic consequences
of intermittent hypoxia. As depicted on the cover, a number of
pathophysiological conditions (e.g., obstructive sleep apnea) can
result on exposure to intermittent periods of hypoxia. This
intermittent exposure to hypoxia is transduced by intracellular
signaling cascade involving changes in the expression of HIF-1
. We
