Cover: Hypoxia serves as a
physiological signal for cellular remodeling, which involves gene
regulation under a variety of conditions including responses to
external environments such as high altitude as depicted on the cover,
as well as internal environments created by conditions such as sleep
apnea and exercise. In this series, we explore the influence of hypoxia
on gene expression; for example, hypoxia induces HIF-1
proteins,
which promote the activation of hypoxia inducible genes. This
