CORRIGENDA

Volume 96, March 2004

Pages 865–870: D. M. O'Driscoll, G. E. Meadows, D. R. Corfield, A. K. Simonds, and M. J. Morrell. "Cardiovascular response to arousal from sleep under controlled conditions of central and peripheral chemoreceptor stimulation in humans" (http://jap.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/96/3/865). Data for the R-R interval 3 s postarousal from sleep was misquoted from Fig. 2 (data was originally quoted from 5 s). These changes do not alter the P values or the message of the paper. Text should read as follows (with changes in bold).

Abstract (p. 865): "Arousals were associated with a significant increase in mean arterial blood pressure at 5 s (P < 0.001) and with a significant decrease in the R-R interval at 3 s (P < 0.001); however, the magnitude of the changes was not significantly different during normoxia compared with HH (mean arterial pressure: normoxia, 91 ± 4 to 106 ± 4 mmHg; HH, 91 ± 4 to 109 ± 5 mmHg; P = 0.32; R-R interval: normoxia, 1.12 ± 0.04 to 0.90 ± 0.05 s; HH, 1.09 ± 0.05 to 0.82 ± 0.03 s; P = 0.78)."

RESULTS (p. 867): "Arousals were associated with a significant decrease in the R-R interval at 3 s (normoxia, 0.90 ± 0.05 s; HH, 0.82 ± 0.03 s; P < 0.001)."

Volume 98, June 2005

Pages 1961–1982: M. A. Haxhiu, P. Kc, C. T. Moore, S. S. Acquah, C. G. Wilson, S. I. Zaidi, V. J. Massari, and D. G. Ferguson. "Brain stem excitatory and inhibitory signaling pathways regulating bronchoconstrictive responses" (http://jap.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/98/6/1961). The legends for Figures 14 and 15 were switched (i.e., the legend for Figure 14 is the legend for Figure 15 and vice versa).

Volume 98, June 2005

Pages 2204–2218: S. J. Lai-Fook and Y.-L. Lai. "Airway resistance due to alveolar gas compression measured by barometric plethysmography in mice" (http://jap.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/98/6/2204). Note the following corrections.

On page 2206, Figure 1 legend, 2nd and 3rd sentences should read "Positive pressure represents inspiration. Negative pressure represents expiration."

On page 2207, Eq. 8 should read

(8)

On page 2207, line following Eq. 9 should read: {int}InspdPbdt is the area ...

On page 2215, the line following Eq. A3 should read "Substitution of Valv and dValv/dt = {pi}fVtsin(2{pi}ft) in Eq. A2 and integration between the limits of t = 0 and t = 1/(2f) for inspiration result in an equation for turbulent flow conditions analogous to Eq. 11:"

On page 2217, right column, sentence beginning on line 12 should read "Based on Poiseuille's law (Raw {propto} L/r4) with airway length L{propto} M1/3 and airway radius r {propto} M1/3, Raw{propto} M–1."

Volume 98, June 2005

Pages 2268–2277: S. Montmerle, P. Sundblad, and D. Linnarsson. "Residual heterogeneity of intra- and interregional pulmonary perfusion in short-term microgravity" (http://jap.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/98/6/2268). On page 2270, in Procedures, the angle of the passenger seat was incorrectly described. The backrest angle of the seat was 15° from the vertical.

Volume 99, September 2005

Pages 986–994: J. Bojsen-Møller, S. P. Magnusson, L. R. Rasmussen, M. Kjaer, and P. Aagaard. "Muscle performance during maximal isometric and dynamic contractions is influenced by the stiffness of the tendinous structures" (http://jap.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/99/3/986). The r value in Figure 5 and its legend is incorrect, the correct value is 0.12.
