CORRIGENDUM

Corrigendum

Vol. 106, March 2009

Haouzi P, Bell HJ. Control of breathing and volitional respiratory rhythm in humans. J Appl Physiol 106: 904–910, 2009. First published December 18, 2008; doi:10.1152/japplphysiol. 90675.2008.—In several instances in this manuscript, the "dot" notation (for example, V) was misrepresented. Below are clarifications with the misrepresented notations shown in bold.

In the INTRODUCTION, page 904, the sentences starting on line 13 should read, "From a control perspective, this relationship is "ideal" since VA, and not VE, becomes independent of f (i.e., VE = VD·f + VA) ..., the TTOT-VT relationship has a positive y intercept with a magnitude equivalent to VD and a slope that has the magnitude of VA (i.e., VT = VA·TTOT + VD) ..."

Also, on page 905, in the Fig. 1 legend, the line 5 notation should be: VD = VD·f, and the line 11 notation should be VE = VD·f + VA.
