A new type of electronic cable was developed to fill the need for a means of conducting electrical signals through areas of living tissue without disturbing normal function or inducing tissue reaction. The cable consists of a multiconductor braided cable encapsulated in transparent silicone resin. A simple and inexpensive method is described for producing cables of this type with a diameter as small as 1/16 in. Possible applications are found in the field of bioinstrumentation, and in biometric and medical research.
