The elimination of N2O was studied in anesthetized man in order to define the excretion process. The end-tidal concentrations of N2O were determined for approximately 30 min during washout produced by breathing air at rates of alveolar ventilation producing end-tidal CO2 tensions of approximately 40 mm Hg. The average excretion curve was resolved into three exponentials and the constants determined.
