Flicker fusion thresholds were investigated in 18 unrelated subjects and 5 pairs of identical twins. Analysis of variance of the findings on 18 subjects followed for 5 weeks demonstrated that flicker fusion thresholds were relatively constant for each individual. Individual differences far outweighed the degree of variability in the same individual from one day to the next. An hypothesis of constitutional determinants of the threshold of fusion appeared to be confirmed in the observations on the identical twins.
