Measurements of capillary resistance and blood pressure were made before and after immersion of the right hand in ice water for 5 minutes. The capillary resistance rose sharply immediately after stress and remained elevated for over 3 hours, returning to normal in 21 hours, while the blood pressure response reached its peak in 90 seconds. A significant negative correlation was found between the maximum changes in capillary resistance and blood pressure.
