The fluorometric method of Lund for the quantitative detection of B-catechol ethanolamines is examined and modified. Reliable application of this method to the assay of epinephrine and norepinephrine in urine and plasma was achieved only after careful selection of reagents and conditions during the analysis. Though epinephrine was relatively stable in plasma and urine, urinary norepinephrine concentrations increased significantly when the urine was stored for several days.
