A micro method for the determination of nitrous oxide in blood has been devised which uses the the standard Van Slyke apparatus with a modified extraction chamber. The procedure is essentially the same as that of the original manometric technique except that the volume of the reagents has been reduced, permitting the determinations to be made on 0.2-ml samples of blood. Although slightly more sensitive to changes of room temperature than the macro method, it is comparable in speed and simplicity and is only slightly less precise.
